Who We Are

The people behind the test, how it works, and how the site pays for itself.

The people behind it

The test, the scoring method and the guides are written by Gareth Roberts, a psychologist in Cardiff who specialises in intelligence, personality and cognitive psychology. The site is run by IQTestCheck Ltd, a company based in Leeds, United Kingdom, established in August 2023.

What you get here

One free test: 32 multiple-choice reasoning puzzles in four types (pattern matrices, number series, letter series and mental rotation), with a 25-minute limit. The puzzles are generated by code and checked so each has exactly one right answer. Your score is worked out in your browser the moment you finish. The score, the percentile and the breakdown are free, with no email and no account.

How scoring works

Scoring uses item response theory: your number correct is placed on the IQ scale using the difficulty of each puzzle level, and you get a 90% range as well as an estimate. The difficulty values are provisional. We will re-norm the scale from real results and publish the full scoring method when we do.

How the site pays for itself

We sell an optional full PDF report with every puzzle explained, a training plan and a certificate, as a one-off payment with no subscription. The free result is never held back, and our refund policy covers the report.

What it can't tell you

It is not a clinical assessment and it does not diagnose anything. It is not valid for hiring, admissions or any other selection decision.
